I’m excited to share a recent commission - four embroidered photos for a new Oakville location of Tabule Restaurant - which is one of my favourite restaurants!
These are family photos from the owners, so it was fun to spend some time with these moments to create something special for their new space. The embroidery patterns are inspired by window patterns on the facades of apartment buildings in Beirut, as Tabule is a Lebanese restaurant. If you haven’t been to one of their locations, I highly recommend it!

Embroidering paper has some similarities to fabric, but it requires more patience and steps to prepare the canvas. And it’s very fragile - so you need to be careful with tension and knots so the paper doesn’t tear. I love the way that these turned out and I look forward to embroidering more photos in the future.
